Sony Btf Pa401z Driver

Dec 11, 2012 - Hello, I was able to get a PCI SONY BTF-PA401z MPEG Realtime Encoder Board from another computer in my household and I put it in my.

Have it up and running on a new hard drive. Display looks pristine.

Problem: It has a BTF-PA401Z TV Tuner Card.

I ve found the GigaPocket software. But, it won t install saying the GigaPocket is not installed. The hardware library did install.

I downloaded the driver referenced herein, but that did not fix the problem.

What I really need is an install disk, I think.

The Unknown in the Hardware listing comes back with:

ACPI WEC0515 4 1BF87C0F 0 which as far as I can tell is the card in question

Any thoughts on what to try next.

Hi Mike Sr all the drivers and software are here Sony eSupport - PCV-W510G - Support

please make a thread of your own next time this is a very old thread and your query could have been overlooked,do you have any error flags in device manager either a yellow. or redX

Eliminate all other factors, and the one which remains must be the truth.

Most of the stuff on the Sony site are updates and rely on the user having the original install media.

The only flag I have is a Yellow question mark for the Unknown item that seems to equate to the TV Tuner card.

I did find a complete installer for the Giga Pocket app. But, while the hardware library will install, any attempt to install the main program fails with the Giga Pocket not being or installed.

It is starting to look like the card may have died.

But, the fact that it remains Unknown may indicate that I haven t found the right driver. inf file. To tell the system what it is

Starting to wonder if I can showhorn an HVR-1600 in there :

Both OS XP and 7 are 32-bit. I have 2 drives in my system that I intend to use this card with dual boot, so if XP drivers are only available, since the original Vaio build was XP Home Media Edition thats fine.

I too found that link in google pointing to driver detective and avoided that like the plague..LOL, also found some older links that  lead to nowhere. Wish I wrote down the exact model number of the Vaio tower before tossing it out to recycle. I just remember that it had a Pentium 4 HT 3.0 Ghz in it and it was loaded with features of which the TV/Capture card was the only part that still had value to me with the rest of the guts too old for any beneficial need that I have.

Before posting here I also went to sonys site and no luck there.

I do recall seeing a chip on it  with Conexant brand name, so maybe its really a Conexant Capture card, rebranded as SONY. Just did a Conexant   BTF-PA402Z search instead of SONY BTF-PA402Z and found a potentially helpful link in which another individual is praising it, so maybe this is the location of the solution. Maybe I just need to pay and join driverguide to get it.  21594

From my home computer I will dig further, as for I cant from work computer on 15 min break.. Thanks for your assistance

Thats an OLD video card and its likely overheating. I have the same video card a PCIe type with 256MB RAM and passive heatsink that I did away with long ago because it kept overheating playing World of Warcraft and black screening on me. I added a fan blowing across mine, but it still wasnt enough to disipate the heat that GPU created trying to run games, and I think the GPU was slightly damaged from roasting too many times.

I d swap the video card with another better video card, such as a more modern and powerful ATI Radeon 5450HD with 1GB RAM for just 32 as linked if yours is also a PCIe slot video card: N82E16814102882

I am running the 5450HD in 2 systems and impressed with what it runs for the price. One is 512MB and the other is 1GB of Video Ram. This video card is also passive and I used my already existing 80mm fan that I installed for my prior Radeon x1550 to blow cool air across the heatsink.

When I turn my computer on all I get is a black screen with mouse arrow.  This happened a month ago and I put the recover DVD in and it worked.  It happened again a few days ago and now the DVD won t do anything.  I called a computer hotline and they wanted a ton of money from me and said a bunch of my drivers had stopped.  Not sure what to do now  Any suggestions.  I can get it to work through safe mode but that is limited..

I updated a win xp driver using off brand driver updater and i restarted and now it wont boot upit was a cpu driver..1.7 ghz intel pentium mobile..PLEASE HELP..

Perfect example of whats wrong with driver finder apps

If so use safemode with networking and either roll back the previous driver or DLoad and install the proper one.

All generalizations are false, including this one.

For future reference: CPUs don t have nor require drivers. What driver did it update exactly.

And it probably goes without saying, but never ever used third-party driver installers or registry cleaners or things of that sort. Obviously, you now see what often happens.

As Patio said, try safe mode or try to do a system restore to a point before this driver was changed if you have system restore turned on.

Just out of curiosity, you mentioned it s an Intel Pentium Mobile, which would indicate that it s a laptop, is that right. Could you tell us the model number.

Any and all laptop drivers should only come from the laptop manuf. site

Yeah, that happens. Just did that to me. but not the same HP printer and on XP instead of Vista. There is a place on the HP site where you can get some help, but you have to find the error log for the install. The error log will tell just what went wrong.

You have to uninstall all the stuff. Sometimes the uninstall does not work right. BTW, iit is not only Hp that has this problem.

Man is still the most extraordinary computer of all.

What OS version are you using with the 1TB drive. Are you using the data security bundled feature software that came with this drive.

I had a 1.5TB external drive run into a similar issue also a WD drive. I ended up having to carefully open the external drive enclosure and remove the small SATA hard drive and install it internally as an internal 1.5TB SATA drive into my desktop computer to regain access to my data after saving  a little over 1TB of data to the drive. Here is the model I had that I voided the warranty on to regain access to my data/drive: N82E16822236188

I locked myself out of my data by accident early on forgetting my own password I set on it, and did away with having this data security WD bundled software having to run to access my data on my drive. I dumped the partitions and created new partitions and ran into issues later on with these drives.

I was using mine with USB 2.0 on both Windows XP Pro SP3 and Windows 7 Home Premium. The one day the drive would not work on any computers I had. Tried different USB cable etc with no luck. Stuck drive to my ear and heard it spinning, just wasn t talking to computers. Contacted WD and they said that I could send the drive back to them and get a replacement, however to get my data back would come at an additional free. I decided to keep this drive and void my warranty by cracking it open and installing it internally to a desktop computer instead that had no issues with the drive. I did not feel comfortable sending this drive into WD with private information on it that could get stolen, so I took the chance of getting 1.5TB of storage back as well as over 1TB of my data back by using it as an internal HDD for a few weeks. I then bought a cheap 20 3.5 external enclosure and installed this 1.5TB drive into a cheap Rosewill external enclosure case and the drive worked like new. Something went wrong with the WD SATA to USB conversion board in their WD case is what I assume the cause of the issue was to begin with.

If you are careful and have a small flat screw driver you can pop the tabs on the enclosure and install it into a new 3.5 external hard drive case for SATA drive, and regain access to your data or install it internally like I did to regain access to data.

This is the second external I have had from WD that failed within a year of owning it. The other was a 1TB WD MyBook External with a LCD display that showed free space and external HDD name etc. The LCD died after 3 months and about 6 months after that no computers were detecting the external drive. This was the last external WD drive I will ever buy. Going to stick with Seagate which I have 3 externals that have lasted without issues.

Only thing I didnt try with mine was to plug it into USB port on flat screen TV to see if it would show family pictures etc like you can do with thumb drives etc.

I HAVE TRIED ALL MY BEST TO SEARCH FOR THE VGA DRIVER FOR MY LAPTOP COMPAQ CQ58-273SG. But all to no avail. Please i am begging all the entire staff and member of this forum to tell me what i can do. Please and please

Get all the drivers from the Compaq site and install them 1 at a time

I have done this all to no avail. I not working please help. Thanks

I did helpthey either have the drivers thereor you are running an OS they did not write drivers for.

You could try extracting the archive or exe for the sound drivers and then find the actual folder that the inf and sys files reside in. Then go to device manager and right-click the sound and click update driver, then browse for the folder that you extracted where the inf files are located.

Topic: Is there batterie driver or software for bios Batterie output only good for hour   Read 1143 times

Is there battery update or driver or software for bios. I bought a new battery and its output when fully charged is only good for one hour. My computer is a Hp Dv5000 laptop. Using windows XP.

Long story short: Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, machine, old XP HDD connected with adapter. Imaged old HDD, and reimaged to new/W7 one.

Added XP entry to EasyBCD. From boot menu, XP would get to loading screen, but after which the machine would restart. Learned that I should adjust the OS with Paragon software.

Created bootable Paragon media, which informed me that it needed to inject certain drivers before adjusting. It listed one device as lacking drivers in particular: Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller.

I searched for drivers on the Intel site, and downloaded several, but in particular all of eng ProductFamily Chipsets ProductLine Chipset Software ProductProduct Intel C2 AE Rapid Storage Technology Intel C2 AE RST.

Note that the ones I downloaded were all listed on the site as compatible with XP Media Center Edition, which is the variant of my old XP.

I booted with the Paragon software again, but after checking each downloaded driver it continued to assert that the required driver was missing.

So, my request would be for help finding the appropriate driver.

You are, IMHO, making thins hard on yourself.

What motherboard do your have.

Do you have an old PATA aka IDE hard drive around.

You can just install XP on the old drive and work from thee.

I should have made clear that what I m trying to do is to get the XP running with all programs and settings, on a dual-boot with W7. Hence the imaging and re-imaging of the XP drive.

The XP volume is SATA, by the way. Physically installing the thing in my W7 machine s case would be a last resort, as I ve never done any hardware installations and would rather follow a software solution.

Hmm Well, I really would like to get it up and running as though nothing had changed.

My understanding of the process was that EasyBCD would create an entry in the boot manager for XP, which could then be selected from a boot menu and this was indeed successful. If XP did not boot following this which it didn t the likely cause would be incompatibility with new hardware, that is the lack of drivers for the new hardware - or something like that. What Paragon s software is supposed to do is Adjust the OS by feeding it the drivers.

Thank for looking, at least. But I do have a final question: With the motherboard that I linked to, would I be able to one day, if it comes to it, install the old HDD itself. The old HDD is, I believe, a:Samsung Spinpoint 250GB SP2504C 7200RPM SASP2504C Sata Hard Drive

Yes to compatibility. Would there be sufficient connectors. Power connector. All that. Just say if you need more details. Though I suppose with that the thread suddenly belongs in the Hardware subforum

Every desktop I have had also has a way to connect a old IDE style hard drive. Vheck the documentation. Funny thing about XP. You can have a DVD driven onb SATA and eventually get it to work. In fact, it will work.  Don t know why. So one can put an old IDE HD where you would put the DVD. Then install e a SATA DVD drive. Sounds goofy, but I did that on one machine.

Maybe you could find a friend or relative that is comfortable with computer hardware.

BTW, many mobo BIOS have and option to let the SATA drive emulate the older a PATA drive. Don t remember what it is called.  Cuts the transfer rate, but not too much.

The Pegatron Corporation 2AC2 motherboard has 4 x SATA II 3Gb/s connector/ports and your Samsung hard drive is also SATA interface which means they are directly compatible.

Oh my. The board has no PATA interface. Is says XP compatible. So they must offer  XP drivers.

When it comes to dual-boot setups and imaging backups having each OS installed to seperate HDD s is the optimum situation in my opinion as 1 does not affect the other

If you read thru the information you posted at it appears you are using an older version of adaptive restore which had limited driver support and was written for vista and server OS s. To do what you need to do you will need the latest version of paragon software with P2P support.

Don t think that ll fix it after the fact

The image was created with the old ver.

Hi I have reinstalled windows as I had a major virus on my laptop and since doing this all my drivers aren t registered on the laptop and unable to go back to factory settings the recovery disc doesn t have and of the drivers on it. Can any one help.

What is the make and model of your computer.

Go to the above link and download and install all appropriate drivers. I suggest you start with the chipset driver about halfway down the list. After installing the chipset driver, reboot and install the rest.

Also, if you haven t done so already be sure to install a GOOD anti virus app and keep it updated and resident.

Yes I will be doing thank you but the only problem is we can t get online with the computer in question. It won t let us do anything

Then download the drivers on the system you are currently using, move them to a usb drive or a cd or an external drive, then copy them to the system in question and install them.

Grab them on another working PC then transfer them via a USB memory stik

You re welcome. If you run into any further questions or issues, we re here

Good to hear. Thanks for posting back.

One thing you want to do is look in device manager for any yellow or red symbols. If you see any, you still need to install a driver for that device. If not, you re good to go

I have a Toshiba protege 3505 tablet pc that a hard drive went bad in.

I found a replacement and re installed windows but the drivers found on the toshiba website do not reconise the Bluetooth card

I used unknown devices to find the numbers.

Unable to Detect, Hardware ID: TOS6200

Did you install the chipset driver. Look in device manager - any yellow or red symbols.

It sounds like you have selected the wrong drivers

Post a Link to the ones you chose

The lock icon means the permissions of the folder are more restricted than those of the parent folder.

This is in this case certainly the result of Windows Update, as Allan has said.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

I want to thank you guys so much. Alan and Computer_Command I will never forget what you guys did. I will make sure I go to activision and tell them that by updating your BIOS it could fix your problem.

I can now play Black Ops and other games that would have done the same, You guys are the best.

I almost cried when I was updating my BIOS, so scared it wouldn t work lol.

Once again thanky ou and I hope you guys have a good New Years.

I seriously doubt a BIOS flash is needed here to get a game running as it is just something the OP read on another site that made it workand i think it s been overlooked here in this case

What for example is the BSOD. .

Patio is one of our Mods.  A BIOS flash fixing a game is very unusual, if not unique.  We can all learn something from this.

PotatoMan: you have helped us learn something new.  It would be interesting to know what the BIOS could have to do with this.  If you ever hear back from Activision, just add to this thread.

Glad you got it all sorted out

A BIOS flash fixing a game is very unusual, if not unique.

Not really either of those. Just one example: certain Gigabyte as is the present case motherboards with AMD FX CPUs had issues with Valve games that are fixed by BIOS update. Leading edge games test hardware like no other software. It is quite common for things like for example CPU power stepping/throttling and general stability issues to be fixed by BIOS updates.

On the Activison forums it states that when the devs put the game out they found a bug with AMD CPU s and they were going to release a patch, some people found a way to get a round it. I m sure Activision won t respond to me if I send them anything, but I will and then post it here. Thanks.

I m certainly glad i was wrongand happy to hear you are fixed up

Good group effort with a successful solutionthat s what we like here

The posts I found regarding this file were informativethanks

My question is what products or programs are known to install npf.sys.

My system is reporting the file missing, but I have no idea what product or program would have installed it.

Lastly, assuming something reasonable, like I purchased and installed a wireless adapter, then later decided I did not need it and uninstalledand this is the cause for the remnant error   what can I do to clean up the system so that it stops looking to start up this driver.

Assuming drivers are available, they need be obtained from the website of thelaptop manufacturer. It s very possible, however, that the hardware was not designed to support W7 and drivers may not be available.

Thank you, I just thought that it wasn t supported for windows 7

What would you suggest better to get. XP64bit or W8.

Looks to me from the specs it ought to support Win 8
